Inspire your elementary student’s love for dance with classes at Elevate Performing Arts Center! Our classes offer an encouraging environment where young dancers can polish their basic skills, while developing new ones. EPAC’s dedicated instructors help students execute fine and gross motor skills, and learn complex rhythms and choreography, while refining coordination and balance. Ages are only a suggestion to help find the right placement. These classes run August through May. We take new students through the end of January.

Ballet beginnings

(Ages 6-7)

A classical ballet class with specific terminology, technique, and choreography introducing the young dancer to the art of ballet. Class begins by warming up with center barre and is followed by linking together combinations across the floor, building on what was covered in Budding Ballerinas, all while incorporating some fun! Class ends with a curtsy or bow to show respect to the teacher.

Elementary Ballet

(Ages 7-8)

A classical ballet class with specific terminology, technique, and choreography building upon the steps learned in Ballet Beginnings. Class begins by warming up with center barre and is followed by linking together combinations across the floor, all while incorporating some fun! Class ends with a curtsy or bow to show respect to the teacher.

Intermediate ballet

(Ages 9-12)

A classical ballet class with specific terminology, technique, and choreography building upon the steps learned in Elementary Ballet. Class begins by warming up with center barre and is followed by linking together combinations across the floor, all while incorporating some fun! Class ends with a curtsy or bow to show respect to the teacher.

Elementary tap

(Ages 6-9)

Tap is a form of dance in which the feet create rhythmic sounds. Class warm-up begins in the center, followed by stationary movements to enhance sound clarity, and recognizing rhythm patterns.  Students will practice traveling movements across the floor and will continue to build upon single, double, and triple sounds.  Class concludes with a combination that reiterates the steps taught previously.

junior tap

(Ages 9-12)

Tap is a form of dance in which the feet create rhythmic sounds. Junior Tap continues to build upon steps from Elementary Tap. Class warm-up begins in the center, followed by stationary movements to enhance sound clarity, and recognizing rhythm patterns.  Students will practice traveling movements across the floor and will continue to build upon single, double, and triple sounds.  Class concludes with a combination that reiterates the steps taught previously.

ELEMENTARY Hip Hop

(Ages 6-9)

A style of dance primarily performed to hip hop music that incorporates street dance, characteristics of African dance, and freestyle.  It redefines and reinvents many early vernacular jazz dances and movements.  It includes a wide range of styles including breaking (popping/locking/toprock/uprock) which was created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.  New school hip hop includes krumping, liquid dancing, gliding, tutting, and power moves. This upbeat class is always a favorite!

Junior hip hop

(Ages 10-13)

Elementary jazz

(Ages 6-10)

A fun, upbeat class that focuses on style with a touch of technique. This class will lay the foundation for a young dancer discovering their own quality of movement through exercises and choreography. Dancers will develop confidence and expression in this fast paced class!

Musical Theater

(Ages 6-12)

Students will work on singing, dancing, and acting in this fast paced class! This is the perfect class for young aspiring actors to see what all goes into making a show happen! They will build their acting skills through theater games and improv exercises, as well as learning choreography and lyrics from Broadway shows!

acro-Dance 1 (formerly Jazznastics)

(Ages 6-12)

Acro-Dance is the fusion of classic dance technique and the athleticism of acrobatic elements. Acro increases flexibility and strength. Students learn proper technique and foundation for skills like handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, and more.

Acro-dance 2

(Ages 6-18)

Acro-Dance is the fusion of classic dance technique and the athleticism of acrobatic elements. Acro increases flexibility and strength. Students learn proper technique and foundation for skills like handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, and more. Students must be able to do a front limber (handstand to bridge to standing) to sign up for this class.

Registration in classes requires a $40 membership fee for the season.
